WORKSHOPS
Everyone has a unique vision. The primary goal of each workshop is to help people celebrate that vision (free from comparison of others) while learning new skills. The hope for each student is that they’ll leave class feeling more empowered to express their “uniqueness” in the world.

The forest is breathtaking/ inspiring with amazing wildlife. Our host, Ananda, is an exceptional gourmet cook using ingredients from her own garden.
Maryfran will be teaching Iyengar Yoga and it will be mixed level (Beginner to Well Practiced). The yoga will open our bodies as well as our creative energy for the journaling process. The meditation will be guided and quieting for the soul, some will be walking meditations in the forest. I will be teaching The Illuminated Journal. You’ll discover that the journal is a place to work out among other things one’s thoughts, desires, and discoveries. You will create a special journal through a series of exercises which will be enlightened by this extraordinary landscape. Using different media you will create interesting methods for combining text and space. Finally you will have made an artist book which will be finished off with a special coptic binding. The Illuminated Journal
The journal is a place to work out among other things one’s thoughts, desires, and discoveries. You are going to create a special journal which will be something you and generations that follow you will treasure. Through a series of exercises which will be enlightened by the landscape you will first create some of the pages for the journal. In the process you will be introduced to several different medias including pen and ink, watercolor, collage and printmaking and ways to create interesting methods for combining text with each. On this journey you will discover (or rediscover) what you love most. Finally you will put the pages into an artist book which will be finished off with a special coptic binding. My fascination has always been with the organic line of Nature, most specifically, the ocean. I both live and work on the Atlantic and have found it to be an infinite source of line, color, shape and composition. Drawing, painting and primarily printmaking have been my tools for the exploration of this natural subject matter. The layering process that printmaking affords has made it my primary means of description. The accidental and intentional qualities of drawing and printmaking in particular are what make them a perfect fit for my study of nature as a metaphor for life.
